Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve (Patterns)
At the present time, there is a large yellowjacket nest about 100 yards away from the rubbing post. Please use caution while you are entering or leaving the area where the rubbing post is located. Park personnel have been made aware of this nest. Thank you!
Conestoga Greenway Trail (Collage)
This hike is currently unavailable. Updates on the condition of the trail will be provided as they become available. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you!
Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area (Nature)
Due to recent storms, there is a section of the trail for this hike that needed to be altered. The route has been changed as follows:
- From the parking area, walk away from the nature center and locate the trail marked Conservation Trail at the base of the hill.
- Follow the Conservation Trail uphill and away from the nature center. Instead of turning left at the T, turn right and follow the trail uphill by the field.
- Continue straight at the top of the hill and follow the signs for Conservation Trail. (This puts you on the same trail where you will find the post.)
- You can locate the post in the woods as you make your way downhill.
- To return to your vehicle, continue in your current direction.
- Continue following Conservation Trail marked with green blazes and arrive back at the parking area.
Koser Park (Library)
Beginning with Clue #7, the route has been changed as follows:
7. You will come to a wooden informational stand on your left explaining the Industrial Heritage. Here, you will see a larger entrance out to the cliffs on your right. Stay on the paved path just a little further and you will see a bench on the left side.
8. In this area, you will also see a second large entrance out to the cliffs that you will want to take. Be sure to look up and take time to read the white metal sign noting important safety instructions and please be very careful, especially with your children.
9. As you start walking toward the cliffs, you will find your post on a small tree to your left.
10. After finding your post, be sure to take some time and enjoy the beautiful view looking north and south out onto the river.
11. To return to your vehicle, head back to the paved trail (with the cliffs behind you), go left on the path, and retrace your steps all the way back to Koser Park.
